Greg Kuny was a Saskatchewan Conservation Officer
who lost his life after a long battle with cancer on August 1, 1994. At
the time of his passing Greg was on definite leave from the department
at a posting at the Geikie River in the Wollaston Lake district. Greg
exemplified the dedication and professionalism of the Conservation Officer
in Saskatchewan.
- Awarded to a Labor Service Conservation Officer
- Both nominating officer and nominated officer must be
members of SACO in good standing
- Nominated officer must have demonstrated a genuine desire
to protect the resources and develop professionally.
- Exceptional ability, imitative and dedication in the
performance of their duties including public education must have been
shown by the officer nominated.
- The officer must be respected by his/her peers and the
public.
- Nominated officer should not have worked as a Conservation
Officer more than 5 years based on seniority earned at the Conservation
Officer level. Awards chair will have final decision on overruling this
point if need be.
- The recipient of this award shall be considered as the
Saskatchewan nomination for the North American Wildlife Enforcement
Officers Torch Award
- No cash value awarded
- Keeper plaque to be awarded by the
Kuny family
- Recipient shall receive 2 complimentary
tickets to the Convention
- Call for nominations for this award
are to be sent to ARM's, and Regional Reps only.
- Call for nominations is to be sent
out in mid January
- Plaque cost is to be covered by the
Kuny family
- Kuny family to be given 2 complimentary tickets only
